Hi there!

The Bitcoin Design Community is organising a designathon! Imagine a traditional hackathon, but this time focused only on design. Our goal is to motivate designers and builders to get together and collaboratively explore ideas and concepts in and around the bitcoin ecosystem. The designathon will happen in coordination with the Bolt.fun Legends of Lightning tournament, and we are working on coordinating with the TABConf Builder Day

For updates, join us on Slack in the #designathon channel, and on Twitter.

Ideas

It all starts with ideas. In the time leading up to the designathon, we invite you to submit your ideas. They can turn into projects for you and/or others to collaborate on during the designathon. After a super quick review (more on this here), idea submissions will appear below.

Projects

Projects are how we organize and collaborate during the designathon. Anyone can form a project with an idea they would like to work on, independently or with others. Once we are closer to the start date, we will open up registrations for projects. Keep an eye on this spot.

Schedule

The designathon has generally a loose schedule, with projects deciding their own pace. Important are the kick-off, mid-event check-in, and wrap-up calls. We are currently working on scheduling a few workshops, design jam sessions and other calls. You can submit an event via this form.

Co-mingle

The designathon starts at the same time as several other events. Those are great opportunities to meet others, find interesting projects, help out, etc.

Bolt.fun Legends of Lightning tournament

Enter your project into this 2-month online global tournament and compete for prizes of up to ~$60,000 in bitcoin. Or if you are already part of the tournament, use the designathon to get design support.

TABConf

Stephen will host a Bitcoin Design table at the TABConf Builder Day, which starts the same day as the designathon. Stop by and hack on your designathon project.

Bitcoin Amsterdam

Several members of the Bitcoin Design Community will be attending this conference, which also starts the same day as the designathon. Say hi and let's kick off the events together.

Questions?

Who can take take part?

When and where will it take place?

What will we be doing?

This is my first time joining a hackathon, will there be help?

Looking for a project to hack on?

Is my idea appropriate for the designathon?
